More than 700 people attended the event, which garnered $425,000 for research, treatment and education programs at City of Hope.

Herb Nadel, chair and chief executive officer of Nadel Architects Inc., and Paul Matt, chair of the board at MATT Construction, were recognized with The Spirit of Life Award for their business leadership and philanthropic commitments.

“I know firsthand what cancer does to a family — it deeply touches the heart and soul of everyone,” said Nadel. “After losing a loved one, it has become my personal commitment to support the lifesaving mission of City of Hope to ensure patients and their families benefit from new therapies and, ultimately, a cure.”

Los Angeles City Council members Jan Perry and Paul Krekorian also attended.

The Los Angeles Real Estate & Construction Industries Council is led by a group of dedicated industry and community leaders who share a commitment to provide financial support for innovative research, treatment and education programs at City of Hope. The group has raised more than $22 million to date.
