Health-care executive appointed to board of directors

City of Hope has appointed William C. Scott to its national board of directors.

A health-care business executive with nearly 40 years experience, Scott serves as director of Skilled Healthcare Group, a holding company with subsidiaries that operate skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities and rehabilitation therapy and hospice businesses.

“Bill’s background and knowledge of the health-care industry will help City of Hope as we advance our strategic goals of conducting innovative research and improving treatments for people with life-threatening diseases,” said Sheri Biller, chair of City of Hope’s board of directors.

Prior to Skilled Healthcare Group, Scott served as director and chair of Summit Care Corporation, a skilled nursing care company that became publicly owned in 1991. He previously was president of Healthcare U.S.A., a health maintenance organization and Flagg Industries, a skilled-nursing company with operations in California and Idaho.

Scott is a certified public accountant and a former partner of a national accounting firm. He is a graduate of DePaul University.
