Employees are invited to celebrate National Hospital Week through several festive events at City of Hope.

“The hospitality committee is thrilled to organize this annual celebration,” said Bob Cuthbertson, chair of the committee. “It recognizes every employee for their efforts and hard work to make City of Hope a great place to receive care and to work.”

National Hospital Week was started in 1921 to generate public awareness about hospitals and the health-care system, but has since evolved to acknowledge all hospital employees and their roles in upholding organizational standards, maintaining and improving patient care and achieving new accolades.

Among the week’s events:

Monday, May 9, Ice Cream Social: Stop by the cafeteria in the afternoon for a frosty treat. (Ice cream bars will be delivered to night-shift staff.)

Tuesday, May 10, Mobile Food: Food trucks including the Grilled Cheese Truck, Greasy Wiener and Carbon Grill will be stationed in the parking lot west of the cafeteria (Casa Blanca will serve the night-shift staff.)

Wednesday, May 11, A Day in the City: Learn about services provided by various City of Hope departments. Food and Nutrition Services will serve a barbecue-themed lunch in the parking lot west of the cafeteria.

Thursday, May 12, Health and Fitness: Employees who take a mile-long walk around the Duarte campus will earn a voucher good for a SuperSaver meal. Employees also can submit their homemade salsa for judging in a contest.

More information on Hospital Week activities is available on the intranet at www.coh.org/master-calendar.
