New York Police Officer Jerry Dacaro, left, takes a hit from Los Angeles Police Officer Juan Bustamante as east meets west at the 17th annual Fight for Life event.

The Nov. 18, 2010, boxing event benefiting research, treatment and education programs at City of Hope pitted boxers from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s and Police departments against members of the New York City Police Department at the Quiet Cannon in Montebello, Calif. More than 1,000 fans, including Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca and Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck, turned out to support the boxers. The event raised funds for City of Hope.
