City of Hope has a new financial leader: Roger Sharma joined the institution as senior vice president of financial operations as of July 18.

Sharma will work closely with Gary Conner, chief financial officer (CFO), to monitor the organization’s financial operations and will oversee a variety of other related efforts.
He joined City of Hope from Catholic Healthcare West, where he served as vice president and CFO of St. Mary Medical Center in
Long Beach, Calif., and affiliated entities.
“Roger has more than 19 years of experience as a health-care finance executive for hospitals and large medical groups,” Conner said. “At St. Mary Medical Center, he worked closely with executive leadership and the board of directors to achieve superior financial performance and provide counsel on numerous complex issues. We are thankful to have his expertise.”
Sharma previously served as assistant CFO of California Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles and Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center. He also served as CFO of the Eisner Pediatric and Family Medical Center in Los Angeles, where his contributions led to consistent improvement in financial performance and profitability for more than a decade.
He earned his Presidential and Key Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University and has been designated as a certified public accountant by the Colorado Board of Accountancy. He also completed an executive education program in health-care delivery at Harvard Business School and is an inaugural fellow of Coro’s Health Leadership program and a fellow of Leadership Southern California.
