Lecture to highlight importance of supportive care 

 



James F. Holland, M.D., of Mount Sinai Medical Center, and Jimmie Holland, M.D., of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, will deliver the upcoming Mark J. Schaffner Memorial Lecture.

Held Nov. 1 from noon to 1 p.m. at Cooper Auditorium, the lecture is sponsored by the Department of Anesthesiology, Sheri & Les Biller Patient and Family Resource Center and Department of Supportive Care Medicine. It will address why supportive care services are necessary to disease-directed therapies, among other topics.

The event honors the life of Mark J. Schaffner, M.D., former chair of City of Hope’s Department of Anesthesiology, who was known for his deep compassion for patients. He died in January 2003.
