Yoga instructors Stephanie Snyder, Darren Main and 300 yogis gather in Union Square for San Francisco’s second annual Yoga for Hope.

Special workshops at the Sept. 17 event addressed health and nutrition, yoga for athletes, yoga therapy and meditation, and included a talk by “Way of the Peaceful Warrior” author Dan Millman. The event raised about $30,000. Yoga for Hope, which will take place in five cities this year, creates awareness of the benefits of yoga in the treatment of life-threatening diseases and raises funds for cancer, HIV/AIDS and diabetes research at City of Hope.
