City of Hope’s Apparel Industries Group presented fashion leader Jeff Rudes with The Spirit of Life® Award and raised nearly $800,000 for City of Hope at its annual gala on Nov. 20, 2010, in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Rudes, founder and chief executive officer of J Brand Jeans, was recognized for his commitment to support the work of City of Hope researchers as well as his leadership and business achievements.

“I’m delighted to be part of this year’s Spirit of Life efforts and to give my enduring support to City of Hope,” Rudes said. “The organization remains at the forefront in research and treatment for cancer and other diseases, so supporting them is more important than ever.”

The Apparel Industries Group was created in 1995 through the merger of two of City of Hope’s oldest and most dedicated auxiliaries — The Merchants Club and Professions and Finance Associates. This union brought together leaders from all facets of the apparel industry who are committed to supporting City of Hope. To date, the Apparel Industries Group has raised more than $40 million for the institution.
