Hundreds of City of Hope faculty and staff members stand behind Ernest DePass, center, just as the bone marrow transplant program did 17 years ago, when DePass underwent transplantation to treat his leukemia.

DePass, who now works at City of Hope as a manager of financial and corporate information systems, joined his colleagues on the steps leading to City of Hope Helford Clinical Research Hospital on Jan. 26 to celebrate the institution’s 10,000th bone marrow transplant, which took place on Jan. 13.

“Standing at the front in the City of Hope 10,000th BMT milestone photo, I’m totally blown away with the honor of being part of such a significant achievement in City of Hope’s history,” said DePass. “I accepted a job at City of Hope so I can return the favor by giving my skill and talent back for the benefit of future patients.” (Photo by AmyCantrell.com)
