To make lifesaving discoveries, biomedical researchers often must use hazardous materials, equipment and processes. To keep City of Hope researchers safe, the Department of Occupational Safety and Health, Beckman Council, Compliance Office and Animal Resources Center sponsored the inaugural Beckman Research Institute Laboratory
Safety Day.

More than 560 faculty and staff members, students and postdoctoral fellows attended the “Good Science is Safe Science” event April 20. Workshops, presentations, videos and hands-on demonstrations trained researchers on the latest ways to avoid lab injuries and accidents.
