A series of events from Nov. 12 through 16 turned the spotlight on City of Hope’s scientific community and the work researchers are doing to expand the horizons of knowledge and transform the future of health.
The Annual City of Hope Poster Session, “Collaboration: Scientific Frontiers and Emerging Therapies,” gathered researchers from throughout campus. Their goal: Share scientific insights and forge new collaborations.
The Science Week social event brought together all members of the City of Hope Community to meet and mingle with City of Hope researchers while enjoying music and complimentary smoothies. Attendees also heard from City of Hope President Robert Stone and David Horne, Ph.D., interim director of Beckman Research Institute, while a graffiti wall allowed faculty and staff to share their thoughts about science. New to the event: A rock climbing wall and a brain-teaser puzzle activity.
The 22nd Beckman Symposium, themed “DNA Damage Response and Cancer Therapeutics,” anchored the week. Leading researchers from across the world assembled in Cooper Auditorium on Nov. 16, discussing recent findings on the link between DNA damage and cancer.
