Margaret Blume casts aside the freshly cut ceremonial ribbon as, from right, her sister, Linda Duttenhaver, and father, Mort La Kretz, and Michael A. Friedman, M.D., president and chief executive officer of City of Hope, celebrate the re-opening of the La Kretz House of Hope.

The House of Hope, or Beth Hatikvah, first opened at City of Hope in 1940. Its architect, Harry Herzog, was a former City of Hope patient, as was the artist who painted the murals adorning the temple’s entrance. The La Kretz House of Hope recently received much needed renovations thanks to a generous gift from La Kretz and his family. (Photo by AmyCantrell.com)
