Please welcome Rupinder Sidhu, M.S.W., newest addition to City of Hope’s Clinical Social Work Department.
Sidhu graduated in 2003 from CSU Long Beach with a masters in social work, specializing in older adults and families. Her college thesis on stress related to caregiving among the East Indian population earned her second place in the University’s Annual Student Research Competition. Since graduation she has worked as a mental health clinician helping Cambodian refugees and their young children, and as a medical social worker at Riverside Community Hospital where her interest in chronic illness and patient and family coping began.
Sidhu shares, "Coming to work at City of Hope felt so right.
I knew if there was one place I was really going to get a solid understanding of how patients live, cope and survive their illness, it was going to be here. And what an amazing place to be treated! The staff I have met so far is like no other."
She loves to be outdoors — swimming, playing tennis, hiking and running. She also enjoy cooking, particularly reinventing American dishes with an Indian flare. She also loves being "Aunt Pinder" to three-year old nephew Simon and 14-month old niece Sonia.
Rupinder Sidhu supports City of Hope’s medical oncology patients and can be reached at 626-256-4673, ext. 62282.
