Cancer Survivors Support City of Hope

The Pink Links Women’s Cancer Group has gone through many changes since its founding in 1999 by Linda Baginski and Shirley Otis-Green, staff members at City of Hope.

Formerly a breast cancer education and activity group, now an off-campus service group, the Pink Links have supported City of Hope’s Patient & Family Holiday Party for many years, hostessing and providing raffle prizes for the adult survivors in attendance.

Through the guidance of art teacher and City of Hope patient, Mitzi Kubota, the Pink Links also craft handmade heart ornaments each year that are distributed to adult inpatients on the Friday before Christmas.

Hearing of some special needs requested by City of Hope’s Child Life Program, the Pink Links donated $500 to sponsor teaching books, pamphlets, and materials to support the “Cuddle Pillow” program.

One of their proudest achievements however is the Pink Links Walk for Hope team started in 1997. To date the team has raised over $120,000 for breast cancer research at City of Hope. The Pink Links team has recently joined forces with the San Gabriel Valley Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.), increasing their team’s membership to almost 100 members!
