How you help build a community of support for people fighting disease

Michael A. Friedman, M.D. President and CEOMichael A. Friedman, M.D. President and CEO
Cancer is complex.

It can find its way around chemotherapy. It might hide from surgery or return after radiation therapy. It evolves and adapts.

That is why there will probably never be one single "cure" for cancer. Instead, cancer must be defeated with a mix of weapons, based on what is right for each individual cancer patient.

This requires science and medicine to work together to develop and improve cancer-fighting therapies and technology. Every day, smarter strategies move one step closer to the patient because of your compassion and generosity toward City of Hope.

I am happy to be able to announce in this issue of HopeCONNECTION that the deadline on the Matching Grant given by our friends at Post-It® Brand has been extended. When you use the enclosed reply form to send a tax-deductible gift to City of Hope, the Post-It® Brand Matching Grant will double it, dollar for dollar.

Other friends have found another way to support City of Hope's lifesaving work. You can read about the Legacy of Hope Society on page 3. If you would like more information on joining this special team, please contact us. There is never any obligation, and we are always happy to hear from you.

As always, thank you for your kindness. As the story of Precious Hanley in this issue demonstrates, your partnership is not only saving lives, it reaches out to family and friends in surprising ways. You may never meet them all, but you and they are part of a community of compassion and support made possible by your generosity.
