I am very happy to tell you that, once again, City of Hope has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best hospitals in America for cancer and urology (see article page 3).

Such recognition, satisfying as it is, is not an end in itself. Instead, it acknowledges City of Hope’s leadership position, made possible by the inspiring generosity of friends like you.

Over the years, you have made it clear you want us to keep focusing on bringing breakthroughs from laboratory to patient as quickly and safely as possible. You also want us to maintain our unique balance of internationally recognized research and compassionate care. Finally, you value that we emphasize not only treatment of cancer and other serious diseases, but also prevention, early detection and lifelong care.

That is a complex mission, but we take it on willingly in partnership with caring and generous people like you.

In just a few weeks, we will enter the holiday season, with all its demands on our time and attention. May I suggest it is not too early to think about end-of-the-year giving? Not only are gifts to City of Hope tax-deductible, there is no better time to share hope and health with others.

Thank you for supporting our efforts to unlock the secrets that will end cancer and other serious diseases. People are alive today because you chose to give of your time, resources and energy. I hope knowing that brightens your holidays.
