Dear Friend,
February is the month of Valentine’s
Day, and a time to celebrate the special people in our lives for whom we care deeply. This is the perfect time of year for us at City of Hope to say “thank you” to good friends like you, for the care you have shown for people facing serious diseases through your kind support of our work.
But February is also important for another reason: It is Cancer Prevention month.
Michael A. FriedmanAt City of Hope, cancer prevention is at the heart of what we do. Increased prevention means fewer people having to face cancer, and ultimately puts us closer to achieving victory over the disease. That is why a large portion of our research efforts focuses on prevention.
As part of our ongoing efforts to prevent cancer, this month’s newsletter offers some helpful tips for you to prevent cancer and achieve better health in your own life, by eating well and taking good care of yourself.
In this issue, we also highlight another signature quality of our work at City of Hope — the compassionate care we provide. Whether we recall the touching story of Sal and Gloria Gill, the “Sweethearts” who volunteer at City of Hope, or the inspiring clinical trial that will provide new and better ways of treating and caring for lymphoma patients, we are reaffirming our commitment to carrying on a 100-year tradition of compassion and caring in our work that saves lives.
We thank you for being a part of that tradition, and look forward to sharing with you in the months ahead the continued progress that your generosity makes possible. We are grateful for the care you have shown and the lives you have saved.
