NEW YORK, May 23, 2008 – Capitol Music Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jason Flom was the guest of honor at City of Hope’s third annual Music and Entertainment Industry Roast at Tavern on the Green in New York, May 21. The event, attended by 300 industry leaders, raised $300,000 for City of Hope, a leading biomedical research and treatment institution for cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Stand-up comic and Friars Club celebrity roaster Jeffrey Ross – who has performed at roasts for Hugh Hefner, Donald Trump and Pamela Anderson, among others – served as the event’s emcee. Dee Snider, frontman to the legendary multiplatinum heavy metal band Twisted Sister, platinum hip-hop artist Fat Joe, Hits magazine president Todd Hensley and Epic Records president Charlie Walk joined in as celebrity roasters. The evening also featured a special performance by singer/songwriter Jill Sobule.

“This event was one of the more memorable nights of my career thus far,” said Flom. “City of Hope is a remarkable place where physicians and scientists are moving their innovative research quickly into new treatments, and contributing to the development of some of the most effective anticancer drugs. I’m glad to be able to support City of Hope, and am honored that so many of my peers joined in the effort.”

Flom's 30 years in the music business has been marked by his passion for discovering, signing and breaking new artists.  His signings have included artists as artistically diverse as Matchbox 20, Tori Amos and Kid Rock. In 1995, Flom established Lava Records, a new Atlantic Records label and joint venture/partnership, and turned it into one of the most successful start-ups in music business history.  He became chairman of Atlantic Records in 2004, was named president and CEO of Virgin Records in 2005, and in January of 2007 was named chairman/CEO of Capitol Music Group.  During his career in the music industry, Flom has worked with some of the world’s biggest artists, who collectively have sold over 150 million albums worldwide.
