“It’s a privilege to lead the insurance group and support City of Hope’s mission to quickly translate scientific discoveries into new therapies for patients with life-threatening diseases,” said Petrosino. “The insurance industry is dedicated and committed to help researchers find a cure for cancer and other serious illnesses, a tradition that I’m proud to continue.”

“Gary’s strength and leadership will be integral in increasing support for City of Hope’s mission during this new era of advanced medical research,” said Shannon Sullivan, director of development, City of Hope. “We’re grateful for Gary and the committee’s commitment and dedication to help find a cure for and someday prevent cancer and other illnesses.”

The NIIC was founded in 1978 by a group of key insurance industry executives and is composed of the most prominent property and casualty companies, law firms, brokers, accounting firms, reinsurers, executive placement firms and actuaries in the insurance industry. Motivated by its commitment to innovative medical research and quality patient care, and inspired by the guiding humanitarian principles of City of Hope, the NIIC has raised more than $19 million through its fundraising efforts.
