LOS ANGELES, October 16, 2009 — In 2009, more than 192,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S. Help support lifesaving breast cancer research, treatment and education by registering now for City of Hope’s 13th annual Walk for Hope to Cure Breast Cancer Nationally Presented by Staples on October 25, 2009. Join over 9,000 survivors and supporters for an inspirational walk through the scenic City of Hope campus. The event will also feature live music, food, giveaways and a Survivors’ Pavilion, a dedicated area for those who battled breast cancer. It’s easy to participate in Walk for Hope. Participants can set a fundraising goal of $150 by enlisting 10 friends and family to donate $15 each. Walkers can use donation forms or personalized fundraising Web pages to reach out to family, friends and co-workers for donations or to join Walk for Hope teams. As a national sponsor of Walk for Hope, Hilton HHonors® is providing incentive prizes such as HHonors bonus points, free night stays, and a complimentary five-night stay at a participating Hilton Family hotel and airfare for two for the top fundraiser and top fundraising team captain.
Held in cities across the country, Walk for Hope events have raised more than $26 million for breast cancer research, treatment and education programs at City of Hope since the Walk for Hope program began 15 years ago. This year’s Los Angeles Walk for Hope is locally presented by Albertson’s/Sav-On Pharmacy. Platinum sponsors are the Greater Los Angeles New Car Dealers Association, Wells Fargo and Farmers Insurance Group.
