On October 23, City of Hope held its 2014 Spirit of Life Gala at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles. City of Hope’s Music, Film and Entertainment Industry Group honored Eddy Cue, SVP of Apple’s Internet Software and Services, with its 2014 Spirit of Life Award.
The award is City of Hope’s highest honor, and each year recognizes an individual whose work has fundamentally impacted the music and entertainment industry. Cue is the first honoree from the technology sector, an acknowledgment of the exciting ways technology and entertainment now intersect to enrich the consumer experience.
The crowd enjoyed a performance by No Doubt that included early hits “Don’t Speak” and “Simple Kind of Life.” Guests included Gavin Rossdale, Dr. Dre, willi.i.am, Guy Oseary, model Michelle Alves, Jimmy Iovine and Liberty Ross. A host of industry heavyweights came out to support including Neil Portnow, Shelli & Irving Azoff, Michael Rapino, Lucian Grainge, Rob Light, Michael Lynton and Kevin Tsujihara .
Through this year’s Entertain Hope campaign, over $5 million has been raised for City of Hope’s research and treatment programs.
