Buena Vista Street closure on June 12
Occasional, temporary lane restrictions will be in place at the intersection of Buena Vista Street and Duarte Road through mid-June ahead of construction work on the Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension light rail project.
Buena Vista Street will be closed at the railroad crossing just north of Duarte Road from 5pm on Wednesday, June 12. In addition, Duarte Road will be restricted to a single lane in each direction in the immediate area. The maintenance work is expected to last until Thursday, August 1, and traffic in the area west of the City of Hope campus may be heavier than usual at peak times.
Detour signage will be posted to redirect traffic during this closure. Please use alternate routes if possible.
See map for details.
UPDATE, July 22, 2013: In preparation for the Metro Gold Line extension, utilities at Mountain Avenue will be relocated. This will result in lane closures and traffic control around the Mountain Avenue and Duarte Road intersection between July 22 and Sept. 13, 2013, between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Construction activities and traffic restrictions will be limited to late night hours to minimize risk and severity of traffic delays.
UPDATE, August 2, 2013: Improvements will be made to the Buena Vista crossing. This will result in complete closure of the Buena Vista Street and Duarte Road intersection, starting on Friday, Aug. 2 at 8 p.m.
Those wishing to enter or exit City of Hope during that time will have to do so through Highland Avenue. The intersection is expected to reopen on the morning of Saturday, Aug. 3.
