 Biography

Cathie Chung, M.D., Ph.D. is the newest member to join the breast oncology team within the Department of Medical Oncology & Therapeutics Research at City of Hope. She comes to City of Hope from the USC/Norris Cancer Center, where she was an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine and based her clinical practice specifically on the care and treatment of patients with breast cancer, within the Henrietta Lee Breast Center. Dr. Chung’s academic interests focus on clinical breast cancer research, specifically the development of new treatment strategies for both early and late stages of breast cancer.

Dr. Chung completed her medical school training at the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. She subsequently completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Medical Oncology at Stanford University, in Palo Alto, Calif. Following her fellowship training, Dr. Chung joined the breast oncology staff at the Comprehensive Cancer Center of Stanford University Medical Center and continued to work on the development and conduct of clinical trials using early stage therapeutics for cancer.

Dr. Chung is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. She has published articles on the treatment of breast cancer and has served as a scientific reviewer for the Breast Cancer Research Program within the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs of the Department of Defense.
