Julie Culver is a board-certified genetic counselor specializing in cancer genetics. She is currently the Assistant Director of City of Hope’s Cancer Screening & Prevention Program Network. She received her Master’s degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1994 and then worked as a cancer genetic counselor in Seattle for nearly a decade at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. In 2004, she joined the City of Hope Division of Clinical Cancer Genetics where she sees patients for cancer genetic counseling and is now the Assistant Director of the clinic. She has authored several papers on cancer genetics including cancer risk assessment models, decision-making for BRCA+ women, primary care providers’ use of genetics, alternative delivery of genetic counseling, and the effects of genetic counseling on cancer risk perception.
