  • Research Assistant Professor, Department of Population Sciences, Division of Outcomes Research

The research of Yan Ding, Ph.D., M.S., focuses on genetic risk of cancer and adverse outcomes due to cancer therapy using tools and methods in genetic epidemiology, bioinformatics and population genetics. Currently, she is characterizing Fragile Histidine Triad gene (FHIT), a tumor suppressor gene known to promote apoptosis responding to DNA damage, as genetic risk factors for aggressive prostate cancer, recurrence after prostatectomy and prostate cancer-specific mortality. She is also investigating genetic susceptibility to treatment-related adverse events such as secondary malignancies, cardiac dysfunction and neurocognitive impairment among cancer survivors.
