Biography

Marcia Grant, D.N.Sc., R.N., is director and professor of the Division of  Nursing Research and Education, City of Hope.  She is co-director of the Cancer Control and Population Sciences Program.  Her primary program of research focuses on symptom management and quality of life in cancer patients.

Grant’s current studies focus on pediatric patients with advanced cancer, quality of life in ostomy patients and quality of life in patients undergoing intraperitoneal chemotherapy.  She is currently funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for an Advanced Practice Discharge Teaching/Coaching study for patients undergoing allogeneic transplants and is the principal investigator of one NCI R25 study, Survivorship Education for Quality Cancer Care.

She is also involved in research on adherence to oral chemotherapy and implementation of evidence-based practice to nursing staff.

Grant received a doctorate in physiological nursing at the University of California, San Francisco.  She recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Oncology Nursing Society.
