  • Assistant Professor, Molecular Pharmacology
Biography

Jeremy Jones, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology. His lab studies the androgen receptor and its involvement in human diseases such as prostate cancer.

Jeremy received his B.S. in Microbiology with a minor in Biochemistry from the Pennsylvania State University Schreyer’s Honors College, where his work with alternative splicing in the JC polyoma virus in the lab of Dr. Richard Frisque led to an “Outstanding Thesis” award from the University. Jeremy spent a brief internship at Tularik, Inc. (now part of Amgen), where he studied PPAR-gamma binding partners. He then attended Stanford University as an NSF graduate fellow, where he received his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology. He studied the host response to varicella-zoster virus in the lab of Dr. Ann Arvin.

Jeremy conducted his postdoctoral work at the University of California, San Francisco, in the labs of Drs. Marc Diamond and Keith Yamamoto. As a postdoc, Jeremy received both an NIH F32 fellowship and a K99/R00 grant from the NCI. His work with hormone ligand-independent regulation of the androgen receptor led to several high-impact publications, a patent, and the inception of a biotech company (ARTA) of which he is a minority founder.
