Shirley Otis-Green is a licensed clinical social worker and Senior Research Specialist within the Nursing Research and Education Division at City of Hope. Her research, presentations and publications focus on end-of-life care and integrated symptom management with emphasis upon underserved populations. Funded research includes: Proyecto de Transiciones: Enhancing End of Life and Bereavement Support Services for Latinos within a Cancer Care Setting, Open Society Institute, Project on Death in America Social Work Leadership Award.
Previously, in the Supportive and Palliative Care Medicine Division, she provided program planning, development, funding, supervision and management for psychosocial support services such as the Transitions Program (offering education and support to the dying, caregivers and the bereaved) and Art for the Heart: Hands on Harps Program.
Shirley is the recipient of numerous professional and educational honors. She received her Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Hawaii, and her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
