Dan J. Raz, M.D., joined the Department of Surgery’s Division of Thoracic Surgery in January 2011 as assistant professor. Raz’s expertise lies in esophageal and lung cancer surgery. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in general surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). While at UCSF, he also earned his master's degree with advanced studies in clinical research and was a research fellow in the thoracic oncology program.  Most recently, he was a fellow in cardiothoracic surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and spent time at both Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
