Lalit Vora, M.D., serves as a radiologist in City of Hope’s Department of Diagnostic Radiology. In this position, Dr. Vora brings his expertise to bear on several diagnostic procedures used for cancer patients, including ultrasound, nuclear medicine, computerized tomography, angiography and venography. He also performs interventional and diagnostic surgical procedures, including needle biopsies, mammography and magnetic resonance imaging.
Dr. Vora has helped to develop City of Hope’s musculoskeletal tumor program, working with pediatric oncologists, oncology surgeons and orthopedic surgeons, and performing ultrasound-guided biopsies for patients with musculoskeletal tumors and breast lesions. He also performs percutaneous biopsies of lung, liver, abdominal and bone lesions, and developed an effective percutaneous biopsy procedure for the kidney.
Recently, he developed a Breast MRI Program, which is a powerful complementary test for the diagnosis of breast disease, including breast cancer.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Vora has also held numerous educational positions at the University of California, Los Angeles, and King/Drew Medical Center, where he currently serves as a clinical assistant professor.
Prior to joining City of Hope in 1993, Dr. Vora served as a staff radiologist at the Greater El Monte Community Hospital, and chief radiologist at the East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital. Prior to this, he served as chief of Angiography, Special Procedures, and the GI Radiology Section at King/Drew Medical Center, as well as serving as a staff radiologist.
Dr. Vora received his medical degree from the LTM Medical College at Bombay University in Bombay, India. He completed his internship at Bombay University’s Sion Hospital, where he also completed residencies in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Dr. Vora later completed his residency in Radiology at the Ohio State University Hospitals in Columbus, Ohio. He completed research fellowships in Total Body Computerized Tomography and General Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Toronto’s St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
