Identified Need
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, not enough adults are getting all the vaccinations they need to prevent serious diseases. What's more, a new survey shows that the vast majority of adults lack awareness of vaccines and the severity of infectious disease. It is estimated that between 40,000 and 50,000 adults dies each year from vaccine-preventable illnesses. This activity has been designed to provide an overview and update on current strategies to reduce the burden of vaccine preventable disease in adults.
Educational ObjectivesUpon successful of this activity the learner should be better able to:
Describe vaccination needs in adults
Highlight recent changes in adult immunization schedules
Review new safety data regarding vaccines
