 Worldwide Swine Flu Outbreak Module

 Overview/Need

There is a heightened level of concern about the Swine Flu (H1N1), especially given the continuous lay media barrage. To understand the actual potential risks and hazards of Swine Flu there is a need for scientific, evidence-based information. This webcast has been designed to meet this need by providing a scientific review of the epidemiology, risk factors, diagnosis and treatment of Swine Flu.

 Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the needs of physicians, nurses and allied health care providers.

 Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity the learner should be better able to:

  • Review the epidemiology and clinical presentation of swine flu
  • Describe the recommended diagnostic evaluation of patients when presenting with flu-like symptoms
  • Delineate  the recommended therapy for patients presenting with flu-like symptoms
