Skin Issues: The Next Frontier for Oncology Nurses

Date
January 27 & 28, 2011

Location
The Westin Pasadena Hotel & Resort
Pasadena, California

City of Hope’s two day nursing program has been designed to address the various skin and wound issues that oncology patients face. Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy cause skin issues that oncology nurses must treat. Surgical treatments may result in wound complications that present care challenges. Another challenge for oncology nurses is prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers. The newer targeted therapies have vast consequences to the skin. Expert national speakers will present the latest evidence based information. This content is intended for oncology and wound, ostomy and continence nurses of all experience backgrounds.

Expected Results

The intent of our educational activity is to provide oncology and wound, ostomy, and continence nurses with objective, evidence-based clinical content, which they can incorporate into their management strategies of skin issues related to cancer treatment.  This newly acquired knowledge will improve the clinical care and outcomes for patients receiving chemotherapy and radiation therapy as well as surgical interventions.
