Bob DiClemente began his association with City of Hope in the mid-1970’s when he lost his best friend to cancer. At that time he vowed to become involved with City of Hope’s fundraising efforts.
In 1990, Bob was diagnosed with liver cancer and in 1999 was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident. Bob DiClemente was truly a man of uncommon generosity, a natural leader and a cherished friend. Bob’s spirit lives on and continues to inspire.
Bob’s legacy and spirit of giving have continued through his friends, Bill and Shelly Ensign and Victor and Charlene De Brouwer. On behalf of their friendship with Bob and their love for City of Hope came the inception of The DiClemente Golf Classic in 2002. The DiClemente Golf Classic supports Bob’s passions: friends, golf, good times and City of Hope.
People like Bob, Vic, Bill and you are the reason that City of Hope is able to continue groundbreaking research, provide treatment and bring us closer to a cure for the life-threatening illnesses that touch our lives. It is the philanthropic spirit of our hundreds of thousands of volunteers and donors nationwide that provide the support that enables our doctors and researchers to continue their life-saving work. Our goal for the 21st century is nothing less than to win the fight against cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and the many other serious diseases that continue to devastate lives all around the world. And with your support, we will meet the goal.
