
Gary Hunt provides the clients of California Strategies over 30 years of experience in business, government, public policy and major land use planning, entitlement and development. Hunt provides strategic counsel drawn from a business career shepherding some of the state's largest, most controversial land development projects through to approval. His business, public policy and political career reflects an ability to achieve both business success and bipartisan compromise.
Prior to California Strategies, LLC, Hunt was on the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and executive vice president at The Irvine Company, where for 24 years, he led the company’s major entitlement, regional infrastructure, planning, legal and strategic government relations. He was also founding chairman of the Kennecott Land Company in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a member and Lead Independent Director of the Grubb & Ellis Company's Board of Directors, where he served as interim president and chief executive officer. He currently serves on the boards of William Lyon Homes, C.T. Realty and Glenair Corp. He also serves as a Trustee of the UCI Foundation, UCI School of Law and Psomas’ Advisory Board.
A resident of Corona Del Mar for 34 years, Hunt’s community efforts have included; president of Hoag 552 Club, Board of Directors of Hoag Hospital, Orangewood Foundation, founding chairman of The Irvine Medical Center, emeritus board director of the Irvine Health Foundation, The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation and Orange County Performing Arts.
