 Annually, the East End Chapter/Jeanne Kaye League of New York City presents City of Hope’s Spirit of Life® Award to women of distinction, women who triumph over life's tribulations whether personal or universal. These women demonstrate extraordinary spirit and perseverance against struggles with which so many others can empathize. Their experiences, both negative and positive, serve as an inspiration to those that have mirrored circumstances.
A Spirit of Life Award Honoree represents all that embodies hope. The grace these women exude illuminates the lives of those touched by some of life's most debilitating afflictions. Their story serves as a warm embrace for those in similar circumstances, those who need a beacon, those who need hope.

 Fashion Designer Carmen Marc Valvo has used his designs as a platform to raise awareness about colon cancer all over the United States. Carmen is an Entertainment Industry Foundation Ambassador and has appeared in a PSA with Vanessa Williams for the National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance.
