Anthony (“Tony”) Anderson is the Vice Chair and Midwest Managing Partner of Ernst & Young, a global leader in professional services with worldwide annual revenues of nearly $23 billion. Tony oversees a practice of over 4,000 assurance, tax, advisory and transaction professionals serving clients across a 12-state region that includes Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Northwest Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Anderson is also a member of Ernst & Young’s governing body, the Americas Executive Board. A 34-year veteran of Ernst & Young, Anderson is based in the firm’s Chicago office. He serves as the senior advisory partner on several clients including Aon, McDonald’s, Whirlpool and Target.

Anderson transferred back to Chicago from Los Angeles where he served as the Ernst & Young Managing Partner for the Pacific Southwest area since July 2000.  In this role, he led the implementation of several initiatives to develop Ernst & Young professionals, improve client satisfaction and achieve double-digit revenue growth.  Anderson began his career in Chicago focusing on serving audit clients in the insurance and financial services industries.  He was admitted to the partnership in 1989 and relocated to Los Angeles in 1996 to oversee the Pacific Southwest area’s Financial Services and Insurance practice. 

An active civic leader, Anderson serves on the boards of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, The Chicago Council on Global Affairs, The Field Museum and Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He is Chairman of the board of the Chicago Urban League. Anderson is a member of the American, California and Illinois Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Chicago State University.
