Music and entertainment industry members toasted advances in cancer research and treatment at City of Hope with a tasting of vintage wines at the second annual Taste of Hope dinner and wine auction on March 19, 2008, in New York.
The event was held at the Tribeca Rooftop in New York. Proceeds from the live and silent auction and ticket sales raised over $150,000 for City of Hope’s cancer research and treatment programs. The event was presented by Mediabase.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout in support of this event and for City of Hope,” said event chair Alissa Pollack, senior vice president of Mediabase music initiatives and vice president of affiliate relations for Premiere Radio Networks. “City of Hope’s physicians and scientists are committed to rapidly developing better treatments for patients everywhere. Our industry has a long history of support for the institution, and we’re thrilled that events like this play a part in advancing medicine.”
In addition to Pollack, attendees included Rich Meyer, president of Mediabase, Steve Bartels, president and chief operations officer of Island Def Jam Music Group, Tom Corson, executive vice president and general manager of RCA Music Group, and Richard Palmese, executive vice president of promotion for RCA Music Group. Joe Riccitelli, executive vice president of promotion for Jive Records, Tom Biery, executive vice president for Warner Bros Records, Rick Cummings, president of Emmis Communications, and former New York Knicks John Starks and Allan Houston, both National Basketball Association All-Stars, also attended.
