 2012 Spirit of Life Award Dinner

Photo of furnitureThe National Home Furnishings Industry’s Spirit of Life gala honoring Jeff Seaman of Rooms To Go and Bob Sherman of Serta International on Sunday, April 22, 2012 was a tremendous success, raising more than $1.5 million for City of Hope.

The sold-out event, hosted at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina, brought together 800 of the industry's power hitters in support of groundbreaking research in cancer, diabetes, and HIV/AIDS.

The $1.5 million pushed the annual giving for the National Home Furnishings Industry group for the 2011-2012 year to $2.5 million. Thank you to all that participated in this record-breaking event supporting tomorrow’s cures for life-threatening diseases.

The National Home Furnishings Industry recognizes industry leaders each year for their outstanding professional and philanthropic contributions at the Spirit of Life® Award dinner.

The Spirit of Life® dinner is an annual celebration to support City of Hope’s lifesaving mission to cure cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.

This event, and all the efforts of the National Home Furnishings Industry, support City of Hope’s innovative and groundbreaking research, exceptional patient care and guiding humanitarian principals.

Photo of Jeff SeamanJeffrey Seaman co-founded Rooms To Go in 1991 with his father, Morton Seaman. Together, they created a business that concentrated on selling complete room packages. This new way to buy furniture made purchasing easier, and more affordable.

Bob Sherman’s career in the bedding business spans 42 years. He first worked delivering mattresses for Slumberland in his home state of Minnesota at the age of 16. In 1989, Bob was offered the position of President and partner in National Bedding Company (a Serta licensee).
