What do you call a man who is renowned for big ideas, a big heart and an even bigger sense of humor? Most people simply call him “George.”
From his distinctive entry into the nail business in 1981 (by way of the dental industry!), George W. Schaeffer built OPI, the world leader in Professional Nail Care, through an acute business sense and an extraordinary commitment to the professional beauty industry and its needs.
More recently, inspired by elegant Italian fashion and cutting edge pigment technology, George has channeled his love of color into Aloxxi Professional Hair Colour and Care along with a promise to bring back personal relationships to the professional beauty industry.
Always an advocate for the growth of the industry, throughout the years George has developed strong personal relationships with thousands of individuals, from salon professionals and distributors to key industry lawmakers.
With his expansive influence, George has served on the boards of numerous leading industry groups and helped guide the nail care industry to new levels of profitability and professionalism.
Generous by nature, George considers a lifetime of philanthropy his greatest accomplishment. Driven by his belief that “giving back is beautiful,” George and the Schaeffer Family Foundation have supported for decades many organizations that help fight disease, including the American Heart Association, American Lung Association and breast cancer’s Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Now, through City of Hope, George has formed the George W. Schaeffer Endowment for Innovation in Diabetes Research to help find new treatments, and possibly one day, a cure for diabetes.
