Your gift to City of Hope does more than save lives; it transforms the way we fight cancer. It enables us to bring better, smarter and more innovative technologies and treatments to our patients each and every day.
We lead the world in robotic-assisted surgery because of the generosity of people like you who have equipped us with state-of-the-art, minimally-invasive surgical robots – the da Vinci S Surgical System – that can help cancer patients recover significantly faster with few side effects.
Donors have also made it possible for us to be the first institution anywhere to have multiple TomoTherapy machines for targeted radiotherapy. Now hundreds of patients receive this highly advanced treatment for prostate, lung, breast, brain and other cancers.
Along with enhancing patient care with the best technologies available, annual giving paves the way for us to receive multimillion dollar grants from governmental and private foundations. Before we can move our most promising ideas into clinical trials with outside funding, we have to do enough preliminary investigations to show that the research is viable. This is called “proof of concept.” Your support of City of Hope allows some of the most brilliant minds in science to pursue these initial lines of thinking – thinking that might one day eradicate cancer and other life-threatening diseases for good.
How Your Gift Will be Multiplied Millions of Times
- A City of Hope researcher comes up with a breakthrough idea for cancer treatment.
- Before we can receive grants from governmental or private foundations, we have to do enough work to show that this research is worth funding. This is called “proof of concept.”
- Because of the work funded by your gifts, City of Hope receives multi-million dollar grants for more research and testing.
- “The City of Hope Difference:” Good ideas move quickly from the lab to the patient ... cutting down the waiting time and making successful treatment more likely!
That’s how your generosity today unlocks even more money down the road, and leads to even more lives saved! Thank you for your commitment to winning the fight against cancer and other deadly diseases.
