A bequest is a transfer of cash, property or securities through a will or living trust. Bequests cost nothing now, but leave a legacy of hope that advances science and medicine for generations to come.
When you create a bequest benefiting City of Hope, you retain full control and use of your property during your lifetime. Your heirs may save on estate taxes, while your generosity supports City of Hope's research and patient care initiatives.
You can specify that your gift be directed to a given program or remain unrestricted, which means City of Hope can distribute your funds where they will have the most impact. Bequests can be given to honor the donor or memorialize a loved one.
Flexible to Meet Your Needs
Bequests can be made in a number of ways:
-
Specific Dollar Amount or Specific Property
You may give a specific amount of money or a certain piece of property.
-
Percentage of Residue
You designate to City of Hope a certain portion of the residue of your estate after all other gifts have been honored and taxes paid.
-
Contingent Bequest
City of Hope is listed as an alternate beneficiary on all or part of your estate. We will receive the bequest only if your primary beneficiaries do not survive you.
