The City of Hope Department of GME & Clinical Training sponsors a Resident and Fellow Forum. This forum provides a formal platform for our trainees to communicate with each other in a comfortable and collegial environment. The forum occurs at least once a quarter, and is attended by the Director of GME for the first portion, allowing exchange of information, as required or requested. Thereafter, the Director of GME leaves, and the trainees are free to discuss whatever aspect of their programs (or lives) they wish.
All GME trainees at City of Hope are automatically members of this forum and are welcomed and encouraged to attend. The forum provides an open, group discussion that allows residents and fellows to communicate and exchange information on their educational and work environments, their programs, and other relevant issues they may face during training, as well as promote the well-being, interests and education of GME trainees. The forum strives to keep all residents and fellows informed about important issues that impact their professional lives as well as provide an organized voice to raise and resolve concerns for City of Hope trainees.
The forum is co-chaired by two active trainee members of the GMEC, nominated and elected by their peers. Any issues or topics discussed during the forum can warrant further discussion or presentation to the GMEC if decided by the forum. The forum co-chairs/GMEC representatives can also present any issues to the committee during the GMEC meetings.
