National Marrow Donor Program at City of Hope

Are you, or is someone you know,  in need of a marrow transplant? Or do you want to know what you can do to help patients in need of a bone marrow donation?

The Be The Match at City of Hope, operated by the National Marrow Donor Program, finds matches for bone marrow and stem cell transplants for patients suffering from leukemia, lymphoma and other life-threatening blood diseases.  Seventy percent of patients who have no donor in their family must rely on the registry to find an unrelated marrow donor.

How can I join the registry?

Joining is simple. Members must complete a registration form, swab the inside of their mouth and stay committed to the mission of saving lives through marrow transplants. There is no registration fee.

To join Be The Match or to schedule a marrow registration drive, please contact the City of Hope Be The Match office within the Michael Amini Transfusion Medicine Center at 626-218-8483 or ext., 88483, if calling from within City of Hope.

What other ways can I volunteer?

Interested in other ways you can volunteer, besides joining the registry? Call us at 626-218-8483 - we can always use a helping hand to support our efforts.
  • Hosting a marrow drive at your home, church, school or in your community to add more donors to the registry.
  • Joining our fundraising efforts. It costs the Be The Match Registry $100 to add each new registry member, so we're always looking for support to help expand our program.
