Building Hope

Building Hope
LARE's Building Hope Group is a strategic initiative for emerging leaders in the Los Angeles real estate community.
Founded in 2011, the mission of City of Hope’s Building Hope initiative, is to raise funding and awareness for City of Hope, by connecting with Los Angeles real estate professionals under 40 years of age. In order to accomplish this mission, Building Hope will plan and execute fund- and awareness-raising activities, including but not limited to, events, online initiatives, and microphilanthropy, compliant with the policies and resources, and under the auspices of City of Hope.
Benefits of joining Building Hope are networking with fellow real estate professionals, including the elite members of the LARE Council, as well as helping to support a state-of-the-art medical facility that saves lives.
Our Current Effort
For our 2013 - 2014 fundraiser, Building Hope’s goal is to raise $50,000 to provide a Carescape B650 monitor for the children being cared for at City of Hope. The monitor will serve children in the Helford Clinical Research Hospital’s pediatric unit, which has 18 patient beds, and allows children to remain there until transfer to ICU is absolutely necessary.  With your support during this year-long campaign, you will help make care for pediatric patients even more senstitive — bringing so much hope and healing to our children and their families.

Past Efforts
2012 - 2013 fundraiser was a success!  In 2012 we determined a goal of $50,000 to be raised for City of Hope for the purchase of a DNA Extraction Robot for the laboratory of Smita Bhatia, M.D., M.P.H., the Ruth Ziegler Chair in Population Sciences, to aid researchers in determining why some survivors of childhood cancers have serious complications later in life. City of Hope scientists will use this equipment to collect and analyze thousands of blood samples from children treated at 135 institutions across the country. At the end of the year we raised over $50,000 and met our goal!  Thank you to all those who supported this effort!

About Clinical Trials
Clinical trials – research studies that involve volunteer patients – are a crucial component to developing new, more effective treatments that save lives. Many of today’s standard therapies are based on the results of previous trials, some of which were initiated at City of Hope.
