Emerging Leaders Committee (ELC)

Watch Emerging Leaders Committee City of Hope;
Taste of Hope FLASH MOB!

The Northern California Food Industries Circle (NCFIC) is launching an Emerging Leaders Committee (ELC) that will focus on cultivating future leadership and developing new innovative ways to fundraise while also increasing awareness for City of Hope.

The purpose of the group is: Development, Outreach and Social Impact.

Our Development goal is to recruit up and coming industry leaders to the NCFIC and engage existing board in this process.  The ELC will organize social gatherings such as happy hours, sports games, post-work social events, etc to aid in recruitment.

Our Outreach goal is to approach local undergraduate and graduates schools to interest them in our industry.  Ideas include recruiting NCFIC members from the Board as guest speakers in a course (i.e. sustainable business - how the food industry supports City of Hope), student mixers or hosting
a business case competition for students to create new innovative ideas for retailers and CPG companies in the food industry (think a City of Hope Sponsored “Shark Tank”).  We see this as a win-win for both the City of Hope and the Food Industry as identifying new talent to bring
new ideas to the table.

Finally, our Social Impact goal is to create fun, contemporary and hip fundraising opportunities that stand alone as well as integrate into current NCFIC events.

Mentorship from the current NCFIC membership will be crucial to the success of this ELC, and is on track to include retailers; CPG’s and brokers to capitalize on the wealth of experience that already exists on the City of Hope board.

Chaired by Karen Wolf of Peet's Coffee & Tea   and  Dan Sawchuk of Del Monte Foods , the Emerging Leaders Committee has already recruited a broad range of food industry professionals including:

Hae Carberry, Hillshire Farms
Karin DeBoer, Clif Bar & Company
Brooke Falvey, Kraft Foods
Megan Holloway, Gallo Sales
Jennifer Lessner, DFV Wines
Mackenzie Mas, Acosta Sales & Marketing
Mark Swisher, Mondelez International
Cassie Green, General Mills

Mentors
Tracy Lape, NuCal Foods
Tom Lee, Raley’s
Henry Michon
Lynn Davies
GL Mezzetta

If you are interested in joining the NCFIC Emerging Leaders Committee, please contact Karen Wolf or Dan Sawchuk.
