A positive attitude is an important aspect of the healing process. Oftentimes, positive self-image is boosted by physical appearance.
At City of Hope’s Positive Image CenterSM young and old alike retain or regain confidence in how they look while undergoing medical treatments.
Here, patients receive advice about all aspects of image enhancement, including:
- Cosmetic and skin-care techniques
- Alternatives for complete and partial hair loss, including wig fitting and styling and eyebrow/eyelash kits
- Optimal use of head-wraps and hats, as well as scarf-tying techniques
- Pre-mastectomy counseling and post-mastectomy fittings
- Comfortable clothing for use after surgery, including camisoles, bras and shirts
Look Good . . . Feel Better
City of Hope hosts Look Good . . . Feel Better, a free, national program sponsored by the American Cancer Society for women currently undergoing radiation or chemotherapy. Look Good . . . Feel Better provides a supportive environment where women learn techniques to minimize the appearance-related side effects of cancer and treatment and get tips on make-up and hair loss and receive free cosmetics. Please call the center at 626-256-HOPE (4673), ext. 63842, to find out dates of our upcoming sessions and R.S.V.P.
