Division of SurgeryCity of Hope’s Department of Surgery provides the highest quality surgical care for our patients in an environment where research and compassionate care thrive. In fact, we have performed the most robotic-assisted prostate removal surgeries in the world, a high-precision procedure that can speed recovery, with fewer side effects. Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery

General Oncologic Surgery
The Division of General Oncologic Surgery provides surgical management for a wide variety of cancers, coordinating surgical approaches with other team members (oncologists, radiologists, etc.). This division also offers consultations.

Lung and Thoracic Surgery
The Division of Thoracic Surgery at City of Hope provides advanced surgical techniques for aggressive management of thoracic cancers.

Neurosurgery
City of Hope’s Divisions of Neurosurgery and Neuro-oncology are pioneering the use of several novel therapies, which may offer new hope for a cure in many forms of brain cancer.

Orthopaedic Surgery
The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery provides diagnosis and treatment for patients with tumor-related problems of the musculoskeletal system, including bone and soft-tissue sarcomas.

Gynecologic Oncology Surgery
The Division of Gynecologic Oncology Surgery brings together an expert team of surgeons trained in minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques including preventative surgery for women at high risk for developing gynecological cancer.

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
City of Hope’s Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Division works closely with general surgeons, oncologists, and other team members to ensure an aesthetically pleasing and functional result following many types of cancer surgery.

Surgical Research (Tumor Cell Biology)
City of Hope scientists conduct novel translational research in the areas of tumor biology, cancer prevention and diagnosis, and bioinformatics, eventually leading to more precise case management.
