Olusegun Adetuyi
Outcomes Research: Olusegun is an important member of the Long Term Follow Up Study team. He assists study investigators to study long-term health complications following HCT for hematologic malignancies.

Saro Armenian, D.O., M.P.H.
Outcomes Research/Cancer Survivorship: Dr. Armenian has experience in the areas of preventive health, epidemiology, outcomes research and cancer survivorship. He is involved with the Long Term Follow Up Study, and is a clinician in the Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program.

Michelle Banzet, M.A.
Cancer Screening and Prevention: Michelle handles the data management and analysis for Dr. Palomares’ studies involving breast cancer prevention.

Jennifer Berano Teh
Outcomes Research: Jen plays a key role in the Long Term Follow Up Study and, like her study colleagues, her efforts focus on improving our understanding of certain long-term complications following HCT.

Smita Bhatia, M.D., M.P.H.
Department of Population Sciences: Dr. Bhatia chairs the Department of Population Sciences. Her research focuses on outcomes and functional status in cancer survivors and developing strategies to improve their quality of life.

Alysia Bosworth
Outcomes Research: Alysia is the lead Clinical Research Assistant for Neuropsychological functioning after HCT and performs neuropsychological testing for this study. She also assists with Therapy-related leukemia after HCT.

Liezl Carvajal
Outcomes Research: Liezl plays a key role in the Long Term Follow Up Study. Her research efforts are aimed at studying the possible long-term health complications following HCT for hematologic malignancies.

Gina Ceniceros

Department of Population Sciences: Gina provides daily assistance to the Department of Population Sciences, as well as administrative support to Dr. Smita Bhatia in her responsibility as Chair of Population Sciences.

Michelle Cuevas, M.A.
Outcomes Research/Behavioral Sciences: Michelle assists Dr. Patel with data collection and management. Her research interests include behavioral interventions in children with neurocognitive and social disabilities.

Nicole Delgado
Cancer Screening and Prevention: Nicole assists Dr. Palomares in a variety of studies focusing on breast cancer prevention and early detection.

Corinne Diaz
Outcomes Research: Corinne assists the Outcomes Research staff with the day-to-day duties associated with our program’s research studies and programs.  She also locates and retrieves medical records for the Division.

Yan Ding, Ph.D., M.S.
Molecular Epidemiology: Dr. Ding is a molecular epidemiologist in the Division of Outcomes Research. Her research focuses on the genetic susceptibility to cancer and treatment-related adverse events among cancer survivors.

Diego Esparza-Duran
Outcomes Research: Diego coordinates the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) sponsored “Key Adverse Events After Childhood Cancer” study. This study aims to understand the role of genetic susceptibility in adverse outcomes after childhood cancer.

Rosecheryl Ferrer-Danao
Outcomes Research: Rose is a key member of two study teams – Secondary leukemia after HCT and Neuropsychological functioning after HCT.  She coordinates multiple aspects of each of these studies and performs neuropsychological testing.

Liton Francisco, C.C.R.P.
Outcomes Research: Liton coordinates several studies focusing on late effects among cancer survivors, including the BMT Long Term Follow-Up Study. He assists with the design, implementation, and streamlining of Outcomes Research databases and procedures.

Alicia Gonzales
Outcomes Research: Alicia is an important member of the Long Term Follow Up Study team and works with study investigators to study long-term health complications following HCT for hematologic malignancies.

Monica Guerrero
Outcomes Research: Monica is the lead Clinical Research Assistant for the General Research Consent / Biospecimen and Data Repository study. This study aims to provide researchers with valuable resources to improve the understanding of cancer biology in order to help treat, prevent, and cure cancer.

Janelle Gyorffy
Outcomes Research: Janelle is a Clinical Research Assistant for the “Molecular Pathogenesis of Therapy-Related Leukemia” study. This study aims to develop accurate biomarkers of leukemogenesis and identify individuals at increased risk for therapy-related leukemia.

Lindsey Hageman, M.P.H.
Outcomes Research: Lindsey is the lead Clinical Research Assistant for the COG-sponsored “Understanding the Ethnic and Racial Differences in Survival in Children with ALL” study. This study aims to learn the causes for the disparities in survival in childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) between ethnic/racial groups.

Brian Hahn
Outcomes Research: Brian is the lead Research Assistant for the Division of Outcomes Research. He assists in laboratory research to understand genetic susceptibility of cancer and treatment outcomes using molecular genetic tools.

Cara Hanby, C.C.R.P.
Outcomes Research: Cara coordinates multiple studies examining the long term effects after cancer. She serves as a resource for other study personnel regarding maintaining regulatory compliance, and assists with the implementation of new and existing studies.

Claudia Herrera
Outcomes Research/Cancer Survivorship: Claudia is instrumental in the coordination and patient scheduling for the Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program. She helps to ensure the synchronization of comprehensive follow-up care for childhood cancer survivors.

Arti Hurria, M.D.
Cancer and Aging Research Program: Dr. Hurria directs the Cancer and Aging Research Program. This program aims to promote interdisciplinary research in aging and age-related aspects of cancer, integrating basic and clinical research.

Colleen Keilty
Outcomes Research/Behavioral Sciences: Colleen assists with data collection and data management on a number of research studies, including two behavioral intervention studies directed to parents and children diagnosed with cancer.

Christine Kinjo
Outcomes Research/Behavioral Sciences: Christine helps coordinate a research study intended to increase understanding of Latino parenting behaviors in pediatric survivors of cancer who are at risk for neurocognitive late effects, and also assists with data collection and management for a study evaluating pro-inflammatory cytokines and neurobehavioral symptoms in women with breast cancer.

Lester Laddaran
Outcomes Research/Epidemiology and Survey Research: Lester works with Dr. Can-Lan Sun in the Survey Research Shared Resource. Lester helps to create scannable forms for data collection, and is instrumental in data quality control and assurance.

Wendy Landier, P.N.P.
Outcomes Research/Cancer Survivorship: Wendy Landier serves as the Clinical Director of the Center for Cancer Survivorship, and is responsible for overseeing the Survivorship Programs, as well as multiple research studies relating to cancer survivorship and childhood cancer.

Kathy Malley
Outcomes Research: Kathy is the administrative assistant to Drs. Arti Hurria and Saro Armenian, Wendy Landier, and the Outcomes Research team. She also assists with grant preparation for Dr. Bhatia.

George Mills III
Outcomes Research: George is the lead Clinical Research Assistant responsible for several studies evaluating long-term cardiovascular complications following hematopoietic cell transplantation.

Melanie Palomares, M.D., M.S.
Cancer Screening and Prevention: Dr. Palomares leads the Cancer Screening and Prevention Program. Her research is in breast cancer prevention and early detection, as applies to both the primary prevention / diagnosis and the secondary prevention / surveillance settings.

Sunita Patel, Ph.D.
Outcomes Research/Behavioral Sciences: Dr. Patel is a neuropsychologist who serves as the Director of Behavioral Research in Pediatrics, and has a strong focus in neuropsychological research with adult and pediatric populations.

Vani Patel
Outcomes Research/Cancer and Aging Research Program: Vani serves as a Clinical Research Assistant for studies involving the impact of chemotherapy on an older adult’s functional and cognitive status, as well as the impact of age on the pharmacokinetics of cancer therapy.

Natalie Perdomo
Cancer Screening and Prevention: Natalie is working primarily with Dr. Palomares’ study to determine if grape seed extract may act as an aromatase inhibitor to prevent post-menopausal breast cancer.

Paula Ross, Psy.D.
Outcomes Research/Behavioral Sciences: Dr. Ross works with Dr. Patel to coordinate behavioral and psychological studies with pediatric patients and their families.

Melanie Sabado
Outcomes Research: Melanie is the lead Clinical Research Assistant for “Molecular Pathogenesis of Therapy-Related Leukemia”. This study aims to develop accurate biomarkers of leukemogenesis and identify individuals at increased risk for therapy-related leukemia. 

Amy Schad, M.P.H.
Outcomes Research: Amy assists Dr. Bhatia and other research personnel in the preparation and revision of scientific manuscripts and research protocols for multiple studies within the Outcomes Research program.

Tabitha Shannon
Outcomes Research/Epidemiology and Survey Research: Tabitha works with Dr. Canlan Sun in the Survey Research Shared Resource. She helps to create scannable forms for data collection, and is instrumental in data quality control and assurance.

Jon Sharp
Department of Population Sciences: Jon works with Dr. Lennie Wong in assessing program needs on research databases, and works with study teams on planning, analysis, and programming of new databases and applications.

Sonia Smith, N.P.
Outcomes Research/Cancer Survivorship: Sonia serves as the supervisor of the Prostate Cancer Survivorship Program and, in that capacity, oversees a program of clinical research and comprehensive care for prostate cancer survivors.

Valerie Smith
Department of Population Sciences: Valerie is responsible for the oversight, administration and development of departmental business operations, financial management, space and facilities planning, academic and staff personnel.

Can-Lan Sun, M.D., Ph.D.
Epidemiology and Survey Research: Dr. Sun is an epidemiologist who works with many members of the team to plan new research studies, analyze data, and to publish results from our many research studies. She also directs the Research Survey Shared Resource.

Andrea Thornton, Ph.D.
Behavioral Sciences/Psychology: Dr. Thornton is a clinical psychologist whose research addresses the impact of cancer on psychological functioning and quality of life, and the factors that promote or impede adjustment to health-related challenges.

Kayo Togawa, M.P.H.
Biostatistics: Kayo works with Dr. Lennie Wong analyzing data for all ongoing projects in the Outcomes Research Division.

Linda Trice
Outcomes Research: Linda is the administrative assistant to Drs. Melanie Palomares, Sunita Patel, Can-Lan Sun, Yan Ding, and Lennie Wong. She also assists Dr. Kimlin Ashing-Giwa with her calendar and travel, and supports the Outcomes Research team.

Doojduen Villaluna, M.S.
Biostatistics: Doojduen works with Dr. Lennie Wong analyzing data for all ongoing projects in our department.

Karla Wilson, F.N.P.
Outcomes Research/Cancer Survivorship: Karla serves as the supervisor of the Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program and, in that capacity, oversees a program of clinical research and comprehensive care for childhood cancer survivors.

Lennie Wong, Ph.D.
Biostatistics: Dr. Wong’s work involves the application of statistical methods to epidemiologic studies, and examining the relationships between exposures and outcomes in longitudinal and cohort study settings.

Meghan Zomorodi
Outcomes Research/Cancer Survivorship: Meghan is a key member of the Childhood Cancer Survivorship team. She helps to determine eligibility, consent, conduct data collection, and review patient records to help clinicians prepare for patients’ visits.
