National Home Furnishings Industry
About NHFI
In 1965, a small group of industry volunteers came together to form the National Home Furnishings Industry chapter, City of Hope’s first industry-based chapter. Its members were motivated by their commitment to innovative medical research and quality patient care, and most of all by their desire to change the future faced by those stricken with cancer. In 1965, a diagnosis of cancer was almost always a death sentence.
Almost 50 years and nearly $50 million later, the National Home Furnishings Industry has become one of City of Hope’s premier fundraising organizations. Conducting events in cities across the country, the chapter has grown to encompass every related industry segment: retailers, manufacturers, sales representatives, suppliers and associated service providers.
With the generous and dedicated support of this, one of the America’s oldest industries, City of Hope has made great progress in its search for leading-edge detection, treatment, and cure of life-threatening diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and HIV/AIDS. While adhering to their founding belief that medical treatment must combine leading-edge therapies with compassionate patient care, City of Hope doctors and scientists have combined their talents to become one of the premier translational medicine facilities in the country. By focusing research efforts and more quickly delivering results to the bedside, City of Hope has saved tens of thousands of lives. Designated by the National Cancer Institute as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, City of Hope works with physicians around the world to ensure that innovative treatments are available to those who need them everywhere.
City of Hope salutes the National Home Furnishings Industry, and all its members, for its half-century of support. Congratulations for helping us to save countless lives and restore hopeful dreams.
